Worry-free booking

Learn about our cancellation policy and travel insurance so you can book your trip with confidence.

Our standard cancellation policy

For any new reservation, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. (Heads up, exceptions apply for last-minute bookings.)

After that, cancel at least 30 days before check-in and receive a refund in your original form of payment, minus the booking fee and associated taxes. Head over to your online Trip Manager to request your refund.

Cancellation of third-party booking

Reservations made on third-party sites (such as Airbnb or Vrbo) may be subject to that channel’s terms and conditions if they differ from Vacasa’s. Please check the site where you originally booked your trip.

Vrbo reservations can be canceled in your online Trip Manager. Other third-party reservations will need to be canceled on the site where the reservation originated.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance can help protect you against the unexpected. The insurance we offer includes coverage for trip cancellation or interruption due to listed covered reasons, and additional benefits (such as for losses caused by travel delays or medical emergencies during your trip).

If you'd like to purchase travel insurance, you’ll see the option to do so when booking your stay. We encourage you to check the terms and conditions before purchasing.

Exceptions

If you're booking a home in Delaware, North Carolina, or some parts of Alabama, California, Maryland, and Michigan, be sure to review the differences from our usual cancellation policy.

Before you complete your purchase, you can review the home-specific portion of the rental agreement (shown during the checkout process) to see if an exception to our standard cancellation policy applies. For all of these homes and destinations, you can still cancel your trip for a full refund within the first 24 hours of booking.

Alabama (Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach)

Cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund. After that, for some Vacasa homes in Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach, you must cancel at least 60, 90, or 180 days before check-in to receive a refund minus the booking fee. (The time frame depends on the home you've booked.) Call our local reservations team at 251‑968‑7516 to cancel.

California

Cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund. After that, for some Vacasa homes in southern California, cancel at least 60 days before check-in and receive a refund in your original form of payment, minus the booking fee and associated taxes. Call our local reservations team at 858‑877‑6259 or email us to cancel.

Maryland (Ocean City)

Cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund. If you cancel after that, a refund will be issued if another guest books the home for the same dates. (If we rebook the home for less than what you paid, you'll receive a refund minus the difference—and no refunds are issued if we cannot rebook the home.) Call our local reservations team at 410‑723‑1780 to cancel.

Cancellation policy FAQ

For new trips, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund.

If you cancel 30 or more days before check-in, you can receive a refund of any rental payments you’ve made, minus the booking fee and associated taxes.

Note: A few exceptions apply, based on booking channel and destination.

If you've received a Future Stay Credit, you have a vacation in the bank when you’re ready to travel. The credit is flexible, so you’re free to book the same home as before, or visit a different Vacasa home or destination. The new trip must have a check-in date no later than 15 months after the day your credit is issued.

As a security measure, your Future Stay Credit is automatically linked to the email address used to book your original reservation (the reservation that you canceled and received credit for). To redeem the credit on Vacasa.com, you’ll need to create an account with the same email address—or log in, if you already have an account with that email address.

Once you’re logged in, the Future Stay Credit will appear as a payment option when you make a new reservation.

Things to know

  • The 24-hour refund option doesn't apply if you book your stay the day before check-in. Reservations cannot be cancelled for a full refund on the day of check-in.

  • You must be a resident of U.S. or Canada to purchase travel insurance.

  • A reservation booked using Future Stay Credit must be in the same currency as the reservation that you cancelled for credit. (In general, this means the new reservation must be in the same country as the cancelled one.)

  • Refunds may not be available for certain reservations outside the U.S. and Canada.
